  Wind Turbines from Woodford School
This Photomontage is to scale and shows the view from Woodford Halse School Playground, looking over the Primary School towards 'Cleavers Clump' in the distance. The Planning Area within which the initial 5 Turbines could be located is approximately 800m from the school.

This is the website of WWAG - the Woodford Wind Farm Action Group.

Meteorological Mast refused Planning Permission.

Daventry District Council Planning Committe Councillors voted 7 to 1 to refuse the planning application by Nuon for a meteorological mast to be sited in the Special Landscape Area. Grounds for refusal were the location within the SLA and the Health and Safety Risk to local Aircraft.

Massive thanks are due to all supporters near and far, including Tim Boswell MP and Chris Heaton Harris MEP both of whom condemned the scheme from the start. A large number of people gave help and advice and enabled us to mount an effective campaign very early in the process - congratulations to all for your success.

There remains a likelihood that Nuon will appeal the decision, however with the work that has already been done and other factors we are confident that any such appeal will fail.

WWAG aims to help everyone in the area find full details of the Wind Farm proposals at the earliest stage. Our website gives you information, opinions and reports to help you make your own informed choice.

WWAG believes the Woodford Wind Farm has been conceived solely to generate profit for the Landowners and Developers before support changes in 2010 and Wind Farms go offshore. A Wind Farm in this location is not efficient but would destroy our beautiful countryside, have a serious negative impact on the life of local residents and it would devalue property in the area for as long as the threat of it persists.

The 120 metre (400ft) wind turbines would be within a kilometre of houses and close to many homes which are likely to suffer noise pollution sufficient to interfere with sleep. Noise and harmonic vibrations are compounded by multiple turbines and travel long distances depending on wind direction and force.

This photomontage from below the Preston Capes Water Tower to the spire of Byfield Church shows the 120m high turbines towering 90 metres (300 ft) above Hinton Ridge. The turbines would project above the highest point of the skyline to the East by 76 metres (250 ft) and would be visible for as far as the eye can see from every direction.

"To justify a Wind Farm Scheme the benefits to the wider community must clearly outweigh the disadvantages to the local community.
The Woodford Wind Farm Scheme is driven by Profit alone and does not fulfil this criteria.
"

WWAG is gathering information to ensure that all legal measures are taken to ensure that the Woodford Wind Scheme is properly assessed taking all considerations into account. Please help us save our homes and countryside by sending your comments.

This is the base of a similar wind turbine with over 1,000 tons of concrete and 100 tons of steel required to anchor each unit. turbinebase.jpg

Modern Wind Turbines are very large. The Woodford Wind Farm Scheme would result in Wind Turbines (400ft) towering 7 times the height of Woodford Church (57ft).
